Provided support to the Consortium for Health and Military Performance (CHAMP) and the Human Performance Laboratory (HPL) in the Department of Military and Emergency Medicine at Uniformed Services University for the Health Sciences. Responsible for conducting administrative and regulatory review of research protocols to ensure compliance with relevant federal and local regulations and policies of research involving human subjects. In addition, developed, implemented, and managed the conduct of multiple research projects with other scientific and technical staff. Responsible for assisting Principal Investigators and Team Leaders in writing and submitting IRB documents and uploading onto IRB’s electronic platform, working with the Office of Research staff, regulatory personnel, and others.

Oversaw the implementation of federally funded studies aimed at the development of effective injury prediction screening and testing procedures as well as the evaluation of several prevention programs for musculoskeletal injury in basic training, and active duty populations.

Managed clinical effectiveness trials on cognitive therapy and safety planning with suicidal individuals while establishing bold but realistic goals related to patient recruitment and follow-up assessments. Played an instrumental role in an international research effort, organized by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Research Task Group on military suicide, developing surveys to be administered to all NATO and partner-for-peace nations in order to learn about the problem of military suicide in their countries and the selected best prevention practices.Received training on assessments and interventions including Motivational Interviewing, Safety Planning with Suicidal Individuals, the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS), the Scale for Suicide Ideation (SSI), the Clinician-Administered PTSD Scale (CAPS), the Ohio State University TBI Identification Method and Risk Management Procedures.

-Conducted onsite subject recruitment and assessments in a hospital setting for an NIH-funded study on risk factors for intimate partner violence during pregnancy. -Clinician-administered assessments given included the Time-Line Follow Back (TLFB) for substance use and partner violence. -Facilitated the development and implementation of a more efficient and streamlined approach for follow-ups; as a result, follow-up rates increased by more than 50%.
