As part of the Scape account team for Willmott Dixon I ensure that the projects are compliant with the frmework contract from start to finish. This includes (but is not limited to) keeping paperwork compliant and in good order at all stages of the project, supporting that teams with their contractual performance indicators and providing help in achieving targets.

As a member of the Health Safety and Environmental team I support sites in achieving the HSE goals that have been established across the company and maintaining legal compliance. I attend sites to undertake inspections of paperwork and on site activities, leaving a report with observations and recommendations. I am responsible for undertaking much of the admin duties of the department including the logging of reports and booking of training courses. As part of the team I feedback to the regional directors on performance of sites across the area.

As an Assistant Building Manager with Willmott Dixon I was an active member of the team on the Gwent Records project in Ebbw Vale and the IBERS Building in Aberystwyth University. The Gwent Records project was a refurbishment of a grade II listed building to become a visitor attraction and office space for the Steelworks archives and Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council and a new build facility to house the Gwent Records archives and search facilities. The IBERS building is a research facility for the Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences. Both of these projects allowed me to experience the complexities of a new build as well as the attention to detail required on a refurbishment of a listed building.

As a Trainee Manager with Willmott Dixon I was able to experience every department within the company through my training programme. I have spent time with the site engineer, the Health and Safety Manager, the pre construction department, the project surveyors and the Mechanical and Electrical Co-ordinator. I also spent time with the supply chain department, the customer care department and the environmental department. Through out all of this I was based on site so that I could experience the construction process as a whole and see how all of the different departments are interdependent. While on site I was able to assist in the daily running of the site including the health and safety paperwork, orders and general works information. This allowed me to develop my management skills and to see a project all of the way through whilst having plenty of experienced people to give me advise and help as needed.

As office manager my duties were to ensure that the daily administration of the store was completed efficiently and effectively and all paperwork filed in the appropriate place. I am responsible for making sure that the stores personnel files are current and are kept up to date. All banking and cash handling functions and enquires are also part of my role. Any cash discrepancies have to be investigated and measures put into place to ensure that they do not happen again. I aid the store manager in the completion of weekly rotas for the shop floor and stockroom, ensuring that the required level of cover and service is achieved. It is my responsibility to ensure that weekly time sheets are accurate and are inputted in to the system on time. I maintain the office and filing systems so that all documentation is to hand and in the correct place. During quiet times I also spend some time of the shop floor recovering and replenishing where needed or helping the stock room manager with any out standing administration aspects of their role. I am also a shop and safe key holder.

At Currys I was an active member of the administration team. My job included advising customers, taking payments and managing the refund of exchanges. I answered the phones and dealt with any enquiries that people had. As a cashier I was responsible for ensuring that the tills balanced at the end of the day and for authorising credit applications. As sales team leader my main responsibilities were ensuring that the computing and home entertainment departments were merchandised and products displayed in accordance with the company’s baseline standards. Whilst at Currys I completed the first two levels of a four level career ladder training scheme. When necessary I deputised for the duty manager by running the shop floor and acting as key holder, including opening and closing the store.
