As Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion for the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) provided leadership in advancing LACOE’s journey to becoming a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive organization by researching, planning, developing, organizing, and managing the implementation of initiatives that value and prioritize equity, diversity, and inclusion both internally, and in support of the 80 school districts and 1.5 million students that LACOE serves:* Initiated organizational change through data collection and analysis, strategic planning and advocacy to garner leadership support for the prioritization of equity work across the organization.* Initiated and oversaw the development and delivery of professional learning programs aimed at raising awareness of diversity issues, promoting inclusive behaviors and mitigating unconscious bias for the executive team, leadership and 1,500 staff members.* Initiated an organization-wide systemic equity review to assess and monitor employee perceptions of equity, access, and belonging to facilitate culture shifts to a more equitable work environment. * Initiated and oversaw cultural proficiency capacity building for the organization’s executive and leadership teams to enhance inclusive leadership capabilities.* Served as advocate for underrepresented groups within the organization advocating for their equitable representation at all levels of decision-making.* Served as advocate for historically marginalized student groups and provided leadership for publication of professional learning guides, resources and related training.* Engaged with internal and external stakeholders to build partnerships and collaborations that support diversity, equity, and inclusion goals, e.g. UCLA Center for the Transformation of Schools, Museum of Tolerance. California Collaborative for Educational Excellence, etc.
