As part of the Special Weapons Development Group, I: -Designed and developed new products from initial feasibility to handoff to sustainment engineering, including the MCX and MPX. -Documentation of changes through design development. -Revised models and drawings. -Drawings and models finalization for handoff to production. -Collaborated with the prototype shop and manufacturing for DFM and design reviews. -Worked with test team to set test parameters and review results. -Communicated with outside vendors discussing heat treatments, materials, and timelines. -Lead engineer for final portion of Low Visibility Assault Weapons (LVAW) contract from US Army, involving finalizing the TDP, meeting with the government representatives, and working with Military Sales Team to file change requests. -Initial design of MRX (now Spear) which has been down selected for the Army Next Generation Squad Weapons (NGSW) Program, involving defining product specifications and requirements, developing the design including CAD models and drawings of all unique components in the firearm, and liaising with internal and external vendors for first prototype production. After the first prototype, the decision was made to submit for the Compact Semi-auto Sniper System (CSASS) program, and I was involved in reviewing and revising any design specifications to tailor the product to the white paper.

I had the responsibility of tracking parts to and from the machine shop, vendors, and outside processes. I was responsible for organizing build time lines and the logistics of the prototype parts inventory. I supported the design engineers by aiding in parts revision documentation and drafting.

I spent half of my internship in the prototype shop and half in pistol development. While in Prototype I was responsible for learning the basics of machining and how to design with production in mind. I was also responsible for running a wire EDM machine. While in Pistol Development, I worked with engineers to update models and drawings to reflect changes. I was responsible for the paperwork for engineering change orders and new item requests.
