•24-bed cardiovascular intensive care unit•Clinical Preceptor to new graduate nurses and new hires, charge nurse and ECMO Specialist.•Member of the 9Blue Unit Based Council.•Member of the 9Blue Mentorship Program•Representative for the Cardiac Collaborative Care Team•Assume postoperative care of patients recovering from, but not limited to heart and lung transplant, minimally invasive valve repair/replacement, Cardiac Bypass, PTE, and LVAD placements•Monitor patients utilizing external devices such as PrismaFlex CRRT, Impella, Intra-aortic Balloon Pump, and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation. •Interpret advanced hemodynamics using Swan Ganz catheters, arterial lines, temporary pacemakers, and thermodilution.•Safely care for patients on multiple intravenous drips such as vasoconstrictors, vasodilators, inotropes, antiarrhythmics, sedatives, and paralytics. •Communicate critical results and changes in patient condition to ICU and surgical team.•Assist with emergency situations at the bedside such as Code Blues and emergent sternotomies.

13 week contract completed at Baylor University Medical Center- Dallas, Texas on the Cardiothoracic and Transplant ICU.

•25-bed cardiovascular universal bed unit.• Assume postoperative care of patients undergoing open-heart surgery, including, but not limited to Cardiac Bypass, valve repair and replacement, TAA repair, AAA repair, and LVAD placement.• Manage and care for patients on mechanical ventilation, Intra- Aortic Balloon Pump, CRRT, Impella, and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation.• Interpret and monitor patients using Swan Ganz catheters, arterial lines, temporary pacemakers.• Safely care for patients on multiple intravenous drips such as vasoconstrictors, vasodilators, positive inotropes, antiarrhythmics, sedatives, and paralytics. • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds which include but not limited to floor manager and supervisor, pulmonary intensive care physicians, physical and occupational therapy, and research leaders. •Assist physician and/or surgeon with bedside procedures such as inserting chest tubes, placing central lines, Swan-Ganz catheters, and pacing wires, as well as assisting with emergent sternotomies. • Communicate critical results to physicians and intervene per hospital protocol.•5CUB Unit Champion.•Preceptor for nursing students during their clinical rotations.
