This role involved collaborating with offshore accounting teams to review statutory fund accounts and Corporation Tax returns for UK and Overseas Investment funds to a high level of accuracy within tight regulatory deadlines. Responsibilities and achievements included;• Accounting for funds regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) under Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM) and Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities(UCITs) fund regulations. • Accounting for funds using International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS ) and Generally Accepted Accounting Practice in the UK (UK GAAP) regulations.• Managing relationships with clients, external fund auditors and tax accountants.• Implementation of the Investment Association's SORP 2014 for financial statements of UK authorised funds to enable highly accurate fund accounts to be published.• Achieving significant error reduction in offshore location and improved client Key Performance Indicators ratings (KPI’s) to green by providing constructive feedback and communicating effectively.

I managed a team of six accounting specialists responsible for the delivery of the Investment Accounting, UK tax and Overseas tax reports ensuring they were accurate and delivered within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) to the client or HMRC. Provided technical input and guidance for statutory fund reporting following UK GAAP requirements and SORP guidelines. Responsibilities and achievements included;• Key member of the team that successfully migrated complex fund accounting data to a new service provider in 2013/14 ensuring data was fully reconciled and delivered to strict deadlines outside of standard working hours.• Developed a new accrual reconciliation process to align balance sheet accrual balances to the new service provider figures to ensure fund values kept in line between JP Morgan Investment accounting records and the third party fund accounting figures.• Maintained the report catalogue (database of circa 1,000 reports where responsibility fell on the Client Reporting team) which was an integral part of the fund migration/transition process. • Managed the client change request process by assessing the impact of proposed changes, ensuring any report development was completed by required deadlines including full User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Finalised the change process by including in timetables and ensuring staff were fully trained to complete the task or report.• Implemented a revised month end process to enable reports to be run centrally at the start of the month to reduce report running errors and speed up the production process.• Introduced a reconciliation process before each month end to ensure the reporting data sources were as accurate as possible to minimise the risk of errors and the amount of manual amendments required.

I worked in a team of three focused on the management of the controls environment and strengthening the controls culture within the operations teams. This was a new team and the controls framework had to be designed and implemented, then embedded into the operations business teams. An integral part of this role was to develop business relationships and to be able to influence others to bring about the change in the controls culture. Responsibilities and achievements;• Designed and implemented a Quality Assurance testing program covering all key operational process controls including writing reports for senior management and clients. This was an integral activity in turning service delivery KPI’s for the client to green.• Delivered deep dives investigations and provided recommendations for improvements to senior operations and risk management personnel.• Investigated errors and set up a SharePoint site to monitor and track actions until closed. Produced high quality error reports for the client.• Managed a project to update all checklists to include key control sign offs rather than just being a process flow document.• Set up the Training and Competency monitoring framework to ensure all regulatory requirements were being met and provided support to operations staff.• Responsible for planning and working with the auditors during audits (SSAE16 or other internal control audits) to ensure they ran smoothly and met the tight deadlines.

I managed a team of accountants within the Financial reporting area. This included managing the client reporting deliverables and I was the Client Service representative for the team and then co-ordination of the fund accounts and responsibility for the monthly reporting deliverables.

I worked in the Fund Accounting team as a Pensions Accounting Supervisor and then in the Fund Pricing team as a Valuation and Pricing Manager.

I worked in the audit and accounts departments whilst qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1998. I then worked as an audit senior.
