My work focuses on how LGBT adolescents use technology to learn about themselves and their sexual health, and how we can use this and other multimedia to improve their lives. I’ve been funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, Chicago Department of Public Health, and Alphawood Foundation, among others.I love exploring scientific ideas creatively. I enjoy meaningfully engaging LGBT teens in research designed for them, advocating for teens in the public sphere, and figuring out how to make professional spaces more welcoming to all.I have a PhD in psychology from Indiana University, where I was trained as a sex researcher at the Kinsey Institute. My clinical training in behavioral medicine/health psychology has focused on people living with HIV/AIDS and other acute and chronic conditions that impact their physical and mental wellbeing. I’m also trained in digital health and implementation research, and I am a licensed clinical psychologist. Outside work I’m a mom and wife and have too many hobbies, usually involving something athletic, culinary, or creative.
