I am the co-founder of Smith Grattan Vivanco LLP, a boutique family law firm located in Chicago. We focus on the needs of each individual client and successfully gain favorable outcomes for clients when resolving divorce and custody matters and prenuptial and postnuptial agreements through litigation, mediation, negotiation, and the collaborative divorce process. I am mindful and respectful of the high stakes and emotional issues and difficulties that often arise in situations that involve families.I am a fellow of Collaborative Divorce Illinois and am trained to represent clients in the collaborative divorce process, a team based approach to dispute resolution and an alternative to litigation. In collaborative divorce, the spouses commit to resolving their divorce outside of court. I frequently attend attorney assisted mediations with my clients and I have also completed the 40 hour mediation training and am a trained mediator.I am a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the Chicago Bar Association. I am a founding member of the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy for Certified Financial Litigators. I am on the Board of Directors of the Lilac Tree Center for Divorce Resources in Evanston, Illinois, a nonprofit providing support and resources to individuals going through divorce or separation and beyond.I was recognized as an Illinois Rising Star by Super Lawyers in the last 11 consecutive years (2014-2024); the designation is limited to less than 2.5% of lawyers who are fewer than 40 years of age or who have been practicing for 10 years or less in Illinois. I was also named an Emerging Lawyer by Leading Lawyers in 2017-2023.
