• Manage drafting, introduction and passage of legislation in assigned issue areas; • Conduct oversight on programs under the Committee’s jurisdiction;• Monitor legislative activity in assigned issue areas and complete research projects relative to these issues; • Mentor legislative aides and manage their work process and product pertaining to assigned issue areas;• Draft and edit correspondence to constituents and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Congressional reports, sections of joint explanatory statements, floor statements, and memos;• Represent the Committee on panel discussions;• Assist with hearing preparations, including identifying and inviting witnesses, drafting hearing scripts, and compiling briefing books; and• Participate in staff-level legislative negotiations.

• Responded to constituent inquiries via telephone and mail; • Created Access database to track claims of certain Vietnam veterans; • Staffed field hearings; • Reviewed VA Inspector General Reports; • Met with veterans as a part of the Chairman’s overall legislative oversight agenda; • Proofread press releases and formatted correspondence; and• Worked in a team to maintain and update digital filing system on SharePoint.

• Monitored the academic progress of 230+ Saudi Arabian university students;• Assisted students with scholarship procedures and helped them to achieve academic excellence;• Cultivated relationships between international student offices at schools and the cultural mission• Ensured that students are adhering to U.S. immigration regulations; and• Worked with professors and tutors to develop academic probation plans for students at risk of scholarship loss.
