About Kathryn O'Hare, Ph.D.

Kathryn O’Hare, Ph.D., is presently teaching distance education (online) composition/rhetoric courses for Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU), Texas, and also taught online business management, leadership, composition and literature courses at the American Indian College Assemblies of God, located in Arizona, which merged with SAGU in 2016. Professor O'Hare previously taught at the University of Rhode Island, the Community College of Rhode Island, Bryant University and Providence College. Dr. O’Hare received her Ph.D. in English/Rhetoric from the University of Rhode Island where she won the Department’s Excellence in Teaching and Publishing Award. She earned her M.A. from Rhode Island College, and her B.A. from Mount Saint Joseph College, Wakefield, Rhode Island, and an A.A. from Rhode Island Junior College. She is a published author, and has had non-fiction articles published in Family Circle Magazine, McCall’s, the Boston Herald, the Providence Sunday Journal Magazine, Gwiazda Polarna, Rhode Island Manual, 1989-1990 Edition, and had stories solicited by the Los Angeles Times. Kathryn also had extensive management, business and leadership experience. She served as Mayor of West Warwick, being the first woman elected Mayor in Rhode Island. She also worked for the Governor as State Director of Community Affairs, served as State Director of Documents, Publications and Media, and worked as a Motivational Education & Employment-Training Specialist for the State of Rhode Island’s Correctional Division. Dr. O’Hare was the first woman Editor of the Rhode Island Manual (1989-1990 Edition, 926 pages), and wrote/produced numerous historical and informational booklets for the state. She later worked in non-profit agencies as Executive Director and Administrator.
