I have been privileged to have worked full-time as a Primary school teacher for the past 33 years and have taught across all grades from Kindergarten to Year 6. Twenty-three years has been as a Pastoral/Classroom teacher and ten years was spent as a specialist Creative Arts Teacher teaching Music, Art, Drama and Dance. I am currently teaching Year 4 and am enjoying the experience.Throughout my career I have found myself drawn to helping children who present with additional needs to find their 'superpowers' when it comes to learning. I believe that teachers need to create an environment where all children are able to achieve. This includes fostering positive connections with parents and any support team associated with the students. My personal experience of raising a child with additional needs has certainly given me 'insider knowledge' to the importance of this practice in our schools. My passion in teaching revolves around the creative arts as well as the use of technology in learning. I believe these are amazing tools that unlock the potential of all students to thrive. I am always willing to update my skillsets and believe in the old adage that it you are never too old to learn new tricks. Mentoring with younger teachers is an absolute must as the exchange of learning is invaluable.
