In this role, I worked alongside City staff to create the 2030 Sustainability Action Plan, which was adopted on July 18, 2023 by the City Council. This primarily consisted of cultivating relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including local environmental groups, residents, businesses, and regional agencies in order to obtain and implement feedback on the draft Plan from the community and the City Council. Part of my work in this position included developing a comprehensive understanding of regional, state, and federal incentive programs for sustainability upgrades to homes, businesses, and vehicles (such as the Bay Area Regional Energy Network Home+ program and tax credits and rebates available due to the Inflation Reduction Act).I also developed messaging and content through a monthly newsletter and social media posts to promote sustainable actions and resources to the Walnut Creek community. In addition, I improved the effectiveness of the Sustainability section of the City's website by updating and improving both the sitemap and the section's content; this made it more accessible and easier for the Walnut Creek community to use.As part of the Fellowship program, I co-facilitated an LGBTQIA+ affinity space for Climate Corps and Climate Corps AmeriCorps Fellows during the 2022-2023 program year. In order to be an effective facilitator, I attended a training to learn about how to facilitate a community group based on restorative justice practices and principles.

In this role, I prepared other UCLA students to earn their LEED Green Associate Accreditation, an accreditation which demonstrates knowledge of sustainability measures and green building principles and practices. To do so, I worked with my co-instructor to develop and facilitate presentations on green building practices and the six credit categories of LEED, as well as to market the course effectively to the UCLA student body and ensure that students had all of the necessary resources and materials for the course.

As the President of The Writer's Den, UCLA's creative writing club, during the 2021-2022 school year, I oversaw the transition of The Writer’s Den from online to in-person, and later a hybrid format. As part of this job, I worked with the Financial Director to write funding requests and supply supplemental documentation for funding applications, in addition to developing a weekly newsletter and managing and growing the new subscribers list. I also increased the club’s visibility by organizing combined events with several other writing-related clubs, including UCLA Poem and Sigma Tau Delta, and strengthened the club’s community by organizing club social events, including trips to bookstores and writing events.As the Director of Volunteering during the 2020-2021 school year, I worked with site leaders to create creative writing curriculum for 4 Los Angeles Unified School District partner schools. I coordinated with teachers at partner schools to transition our volunteering program to an online format, and recruited, trained, and supported 5 new site leaders and 24 new volunteers for the program. I also created a guest speaker program so that club members would have the opportunity to hear from professional writers and poets; I organized and moderated 7 guest speaker events between 2020-2022.

In this role, I created and implemented an original curriculum for a digital remix class and a podcasting class for 8-13 year olds. I taught campers about the subjects through hands-on learning and assisted campers one-on-one with their digital remix and podcasting projects.

I led teams of up to 20 campers per week through daily art, science and outdoor rotations, working with other team leaders and instructors to create a fun, safe environment for learning. I also assisted instructors in the classroom as they delivered curriculum to the team of campers.
