Heart surgery volumes were nearly 50% ahead of projections at end of first year. ● Developed marketing to position hospital as leader in cocaine addiction treatment. Adult inpatient admissions grew 46% over prior year. Implemented chemical dependency direct mail series which netted 188 new referral sources and a gain of 20% in admissions in year one, 8% the following year.● Used input from focus group of past chemical dependency patients to create radio ad campaign that won top state and national awards. Intake calls increased 76% when ads aired. Adult admissions rose 22%. ● Implemented a high school video contest to introduce inpatient adolescent chemical dependency treatment services. Secured Olympian Bonnie Blair to serve as chairperson. Half of local high schools participated. More than 4,000 students heard prevention messages. Admissions increased by 6%.
