I assist professors with classroom responsibilities and run labs for various undergraduate engineering classes from the freshman to the senior level. Additionally, I grade student assignments, hold office hours, and operate the freshman machine shop in order to help students with their projects.

The University Innovation Fellows program is a run out of the D.school at Stanford University. Through this program I work with educators, innovators, inventors, students, and faculty at universities across the country to positively impact their entrepreneurial environments. I am currently working with the GVSU to help implement change through the Design Thinking Initiative at Grand Valley State University. I have started several projects devoted to encouraging design thinking, interdisciplinary collaboration, and entrepreneurial mindsets at GVSU including the student group IDEA (InterDisciplinary Entrepreneurship Alliance) and curriculum changes for freshman engineering courses. This fellowship also grants me the opportunity to participate and facilitate national workshops several times a year in order to train and collaborate with fellows all over the world.http://universityinnovationfellows.org/

I co-founded this medical device startup company. We developed a new and innovative sit-to-stand device for critical care patients that reduces injuries for medical staff, decreases patient recovery times, and cut down on related costs for hospitals.

I also helped this company develop standard operating procedures to reduce waste and maximize productivity. Additionally, I was able to enhance my CAD skills in Solidworks and Inventor.

With Thoughtfull, I was able to learn new design skills while also applying my engineering skills in new ways. Thoughtfull is a design consulting firm focused on business strategy, innovation, and human experience design. Our goal was to present organizations with new perspectives on the problems they are facing by designing workshops, completing ethnographic research, and carefully crafting human experiences. I have applied principles from my engineering experience to analyze and synthesize research as well as develop new processes in order to create delightful and repeatable experiences for the customers and employees in large corporations like Amway, Steelcase, and Invacare.
