Medical Legal Partnership Colorado (MLP Colorado) provides pro bono legal representation to address health harming civil legal needs. MLP Colorado partners with Salud Clinic in Commerce City, Brighton, and Fort Lupton to address the population health needs of vulnerable and low-income populations. During my tenure there, I had the privilege to both work with patient/clients directly and support the operations of MLP Colorado. Highlights:1. Drafted a response to CMS' Request for Information (RFI) regarding HIPAA's impact on interdisciplinary health care services provided to vulnerable populations. 2. Updated MLP Colorado's HIPAA authorization form to ensure compliance with HIPAA and state law.3. Updated MLP Colorado's legal disclosure authorization form to address mandatory reporting risks and protect patient interests.4. Drafted changes to the BAA and MOU between MLP Colorado and Salud to ensure HIPAA compliance and to establish policies for addressing mandatory reporting requirements and potential conflicts in the professional obligations of lawyers and health care providers.Daily Responsibilities included:1. Conducting new intake interviews with potential clients, screening them for health harming civil legal needs, and providing referrals when legal needs fell outside scope of MLP Colorado's practice.2. Researching and summarizing issues for immigration, SSDI, and housing matters.3. Reviewing FOIA records and converting the information into concise timelines and summaries.4. Researching HIPAA, mandatory reporting, and professional obligations to craft best practices for MLP Colorado. Worked in teams of 2-3 student attorneys on a varied civil practice case load which included social security disability, divorce, asylum, and special immigrant juvenile status proceedings with 6 clients. Highlights:1. Fully favorable outcome for a client in a Social Security Disability Benefit appeal.2. Fully favorable outcome for client following a hearing in a divorce proceeding. Hearing resulted in client's requested parenting time, child support, division of property, and maintenance when all issues were contested.Tasks included:1. The Office of General Counsel for Region VIII of the Department of Health and Human Services in Denver, CO serves as legal counsel for programs administered through HHS in Region VIII states including the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare, Office of Civil Rights, and Indian Health Services. Highlights:1. Granted motion to dismiss in a MSPB proceeding.Regular responsibilities included: 1. Researching and drafting pretrial motions and memos for EEOC and CMS related administrative proceedings, including provider enrollments.2. Participating in witness meetings and drafting witness affidavits based on witness statements for administrative proceedings.3. Conducting and summarizing research regarding novel and emerging issues in Title III of the ADA and HIPAA.4. Reviewing collaborative agreements. Became familiar with the following substantive areas of law: 1. EEOC and MSPB employment proceedings; 2. CMS regulations for providers, suppliers, and Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF); 3. Federal Tort Claims Act; 4. Title VII and the ADA; 5. Staff credentialing for an IHS facility; and 6. HIPAA.

Ongoing projects and tasks include: Patent proofing, expense reports, editing and creating diagrams in VISIO, event planning, and other miscellaneous tasks as assigned by the facilities manager or office administrator.

Ymca Of The Rockies At Snow Mountain Ranch

Adam's Camp is an intensive summer therapy camp for children with special needs and their families. I was hired as the music therapist and Team Lead for several Pathfinder sessions in 2014, 2015, and 2016. Each Pathfinder session is a week long and entails working collaboratively with 5 therapists, for 5 days, with 5 campers. Each week focuses on different camper populations including: campers with unique mobility challenges, global developmental delays, Down Syndrome, and Early Intervention. Each day includes 6 hours of intensive one-on-one therapy and building therapeutic reports for each camper to present at the end of the 5 day week. In my time with Adam's Camp, I demonstrated:1. Top-tier pediatric therapy skills across modalities and populations (ages 4-11).2. Absolute mental and physical presence with my campers and my co-therapists.3. Daily tasks: organize and manage the flow of business of one of the 3 busiest restaurants in Denver. On any given busy dinner shift, the dining room at Maggiano's Little Italy at the Denver Tech Center will see between 600-700 guests and holidays can see up to 1400 guests in a day.
