As the Associate Director of Strategy and Planning at NC Medicaid, I am involved with policy development, federal engagement, health equity efforts, and other strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities include:-Co-leading a workstream to improve the collection and standardization of clinical data used for quality measurement in the Medicaid program-Leading measurement and data-related efforts for the NC Integrated Care for Kids model, including by operationalizing performance measures for a new Alternative Payment Model-Supporting other NC Medicaid teams and external stakeholders in determining how to best collect and leverage social drivers of health data to address unmet resource needs-Overseeing a team of staff who support monitoring and evaluation efforts across various NC Medicaid projects

NC InCK aims to transform the way that children and families receive heath and social services in North Carolina. By integrating data and services across sectors, NC InCK encourages a more holistic approach to the health and well-being of children with Medicaid. In my role with NC Medicaid's Evaluation Team, I support the program by developing performance measures, liaising with plans and providers, and operationalizing a new alternative payment model.

I published weekly blogs, crafted evidence-based talking points, and created communications materials to build support for Medicaid expansion among state legislators in North Carolina.

As an intern with the Health Program's Prevention Initiative, I researched and wrote about federal policies related to pandemic preparedness, opioids, food insecurity, and strengthening the public health system. For BPC's June 2021 report entitled "Positioning America's Public Health System for the Next Pandemic," I co-led the section on strengthening public health data infrastructure; the work involved stakeholder interviews, research, policy analysis, development of federal policy recommendations, writing, and stakeholder outreach.

As part of both the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Harvard School of Public Health and the Harvard Global Health Institute, I worked on a variety of research and policy projects focused on health care quality and spending, both in the U.S. and abroad. In this role, I spearheaded evidence synthesis and writing projects, including research for academic journals, policy analyses for lay audiences, Congressional testimony, and reports for policymakers. Additionally, I coordinated a multinational research project that compares how health systems of high-income countries care for high-need, high-cost patients (icconic.org). During the COVID-19 pandemic, I supported initiatives to educate the public and guide policymakers in their pandemic response.

I assisted in the planning and early stages of Vanderbilt’s Community Health Needs Assessment. I supported a variety of projects to address community health needs in Nashville via data analysis, grant writing, interviews and focus groups with stakeholders, and other relevant tasks.
