Pr Account Supervisor
Public Relations Specialist, Social Media Manager
In this role, I managed multiple client accounts in health care, financial services and real estate, providing public relations and marketing advice to C-suite and VP-level executives. This included a wide array of projects, such as media relations, issues management, social media marketing, website development, branding, video production, creation of collateral materials, and a lot of writing/editing. Projects that highlight these PR and ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT skills include:• Organizing and generating local media buzz around a client's hotel "topping off" event, which was attended by high-profile community leaders, and covered by all four local TV stations and several print publications• Managing the media relations activities around a major crisis situation for an agriculture client to turn potentially very negative media stories into neutral and even positive coverage• Conducting internal and external research to refresh a senior living client's brand and support the executive team's internal rollout campaign to excite and engage employees around the new brand
Content Marketing Manager
My work with a start-up company, called EatStreet gave me experience in many areas of marketing, such as guerrilla marketing, reputation management, social media marketing, community relations, and event marketing. I used these different facets of marketing to enhance awareness of EatStreet, an online food ordering company, on my college campus, which improved the company's sales. It all started with: GUERRILLA MARKETING TACTICS• Hired and managed a team of 3-5 unpaid interns on how to successfully market the website• Handed out flyers to passerby in high traffic areas and posted them all over campus• Found an artist to create a mural of a sandwich branded with EatStreet's promotion, which was displayed on the sidewalk of UIowa's Pentacrest (highest traffic area during class passing time)Mixed with: REPUTATION MANAGEMENT + SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING• Posted content daily to EatStreet - Iowa City's Twitter and Facebook pages, including events, contests, polls, and pictures to engage the target audience• Executed a rebranding campaign via social media that resulted in 2,000 new Facebook Likes and a 20% increase in sales• Managed 3 interns who wrote blog posts about EatStreet restaurants and foodie articles in generalThen I implemented: COMMUNITY RELATIONS + EVENT MARKETING• Constructed partnerships with 10 student and 7 nonprofit organizations to produce weekly cross promotions on social media and via word of mouth• Coordinated at least 2 promotional events each week with partnering organizations to market the website
Sports Marketing Intern
This internship gave me experience in sports marketing, sales, and event marketing. Through covering Brewers games, cutting audio for sports radio shows, and interviewing athletes, I gained hands on experience and expanded my knowledge of Wisconsin sports teams.I also participated in 3-6 promotional events per month that each had well over 100 attendees. At these events I would interact with passerby and persuade them to participate in whatever promotion we had running at the time. After the events, I used PowerPoint to create event recaps. I also created marketing campaigns and presentations for my supervisors that illustrated strategies for future events. For my internship's final project, I generated over 20 leads of local businesses that may be interested in advertising on our radio shows and/or using ESPN Milwaukee's services. I worked with a marketing consultant to pursue these potential clients by cold calling them and setting up introductory meetings. Through this experience, I bettered my skills in lead generation, cold calling, pitching, creating marketing presentations, and turning potential clients into long-term customers.
Marketing And Public Relations Intern
My work with Capture Marketing gave me exposure to a versatile set of PR tools. As an intern, I got to work on actual client projects in various industries, including sports, nonprofit, financial, and entertainment. I wrote content for these clients' blogs, websites, social media accounts, press releases, media pitches, and event listings. I also helped create strategic marketing proposals for commercials, job advertisements, and social media plans. This role improved my marketing and writing skills as well as my strategic thinking. I spent many hours researching clients' business industries to understand their businesses through and through. I then researched who would need/want to do business with each client, and constructed databases of potential customers and sponsors to target. I also researched media and created media lists for new clients. My efforts in this internship increased clients' event attendance, led to new business, and gained media placements. I created positive relationships with the clients I worked with through the quality of my work, my professional attitude, meeting deadlines, and my strong work ethic.
Camp Counselor
This position gave me exposure to providing excellent customer service as well as expanded my knowledge of the equine industry. I sharpened my verbal communication skills while I taught children and adults about horses and how to ride. Taking care of children and horses made me personable and approachable. I also spoke with clients and scheduled lessons over the phone and in person, which improved my customer service skills.
