About Kathryn Thomas

As the VP of Business Development at ANAMAR Environmental Consulting, I work with a team on a diverse portfolio of projects that involve dredged material sampling and monitoring, project design and management, and data review and interpretation. I have more than 7 years of experience in this role, and I provide strategic, marketing, and managerial guidance to ANAMAR in support of clients such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and NOAA. I offer high-quality, cost-effective, and compliant solutions that meet our clients' environmental needs and challenges. Before joining ANAMAR, I founded and led Yoga 4 Change, a not-for-profit corporation that brings yoga to high-risk populations, for seven years. I also served as a military helicopter pilot in the U.S. Navy until I experienced a non-combat-related injury leading to my medical separation. My background in leadership, strategic vision implementation, and collaboration throughout my military, nonprofit, and private sector career gives me a unique foundation for future expansion. I believe we can leave people better than we find them, and most problems can be solved if we ask for help. I am a volunteer for the SAME Portland Post's Board of Directors and sit on the Hood River - White Salmon Bridge Commission. In these roles, I speak from my proven success and expertise in strategic planning, mediation, board governance, organizational process improvement, brand rollout, client resource management, and marketing.

    Temecula, Ca, Us
Before being elected to the national board, I founded, organized, and implemented Women of WEDA (WoW) at the national level and chapter levels to create more diversity and open doors for women in the sector. As of mid-2024, each chapter has WoW events pre-meetings, and the attendance for WEDA national and local conferences and meetings has had a noticeable increase in women from the sector. Before being named on the board, I also organized and facilitated the monthly webinar series, created and organized the mentorship program, and assisted with social media. As which as of April, 2024, this program is in its fourth iteration, and the webinars are attended regularly by more than 150 individuals. As the Education Commission Chair (2022-2024), I oversaw and actively managed the Mentorship, Scholarship, and Fellowship Programs; organized and facilitated webinars; oversaw publications and short courses; participated in WEDA’s DEIJB initiatives, and increased educational commission recognition. I also created, organized, and administrated the first-ever "Pathway to Dredging Success" program which is a 100-hour program educating incarcerated individuals on social emotional learning skills, thinking 4 a change curriculum, leadership skills, decriminalizing the mindset, OSHA-30 and first aid and CPR. Early in 2023, I facilitated the organization’s strategic planning session, which led to an approved strategic plan, vision, and mission statement, and overall saw a more cohesive board. Post strategic plan, I oversaw the implementation of action steps which led to increased collaboration opportunities with both private and public entities.I believe I left WEDA better than I found it, and wish the organization success.
