The day I sat upside down in the passenger’s seat of my mom’s parked car and said “mommy, I want to be an astronaut when I grow up” was the day I actually discovered I wanted to be an artist. I’ve been doodling up my imagination ever since. I am most passionate about cooking, family, teaching, and creating paintings through pulling ideas from my childhood memories. The lessons I have learned from these personal interests have given me three strengths I continue to use in my life and bring to my work. They include: having patience to teach children in a way that asks them to learn through discovery, teaching children through methods that don’t only focus on outcomes, and the ability to tell stories through pictures. I plan on working in the Children’s and Young Adult Book and Editorial as well as Art Education field where I will help to implement creative learning for children.
