I'm on a mission to keep women working for long-term financial security! Moving away from emotionally charged "can women have it all" and "lean in" mantras, I talk about work purely in the context of funding a long retirement & all of life's "you never knows." Too many women narrowly focus on family pressures, mistakenly think flexwork is a fantasy, leave work for child/elderly parent care and forfeit up to 4X their salaries every year out. Employers lose, too—in talent, institutional knowledge, training & recruiting dollars. For nearly two decades I've helped current professionals find pragmatic ways to stay in their jobs and given women at home the tools to get back in. As a mother of two daughters who has also experienced eldercare issues for aging parents, I've lived all the work-life issues women face.Even women who appear to be the most driven don't tell their boss, colleagues or HR that they are second-guessing career moves and considering career breaks. Through group & individual coaching I'm a powerful retention resource creating a safe, non-judgmental space for women to voice & solve many work+life challenges. Women appreciate my message that there is no shame in "leaning in-between" during periods of heavy caregiving for children and aging parents. I emphasize that women can be a leader at any level and how to be a valuable contributor who continually grows a portfolio of skills and expertise. My book, "Ambition Redefined: Why the Corner Office is Not for Every Woman & What to Do Instead" is an 800-CEO-READ "Business Book to Watch" and endorsed by Working Mother magazine. A frequent speaker & media resource, my views on women and work have been published in the New York Times & The Wall Street Journal. My "MAKE WORK FIT LIFE" event brought together 200 mass affluent women for discussions on how to build a sustainable career—sponsored by AXA, Cigna, Ernst & Young, Raymond James, Wells Fargo & Fidelity.Let's collaborate! kathryn@kathrynsollmann.com
