The Advisor I worked with at RBC DS, Cayman Islands, made the decision to open his own firm in the Turks & Caicos Islands and asked me to join him. My duties remained much the same however I had additional compliance responsibilities and was charged with creating the infrastructure for the new office. I was also required to navigate the logistics of moving our client base from one (challenging) offshore jurisdiction to another.Key accomplishments:• Relocated business from one offshore jurisdiction to another: This involved setting up new requirements for paperwork, working with various asset custodians in Switzerland, as well as the everyday requirements of moving an office and setting up services in a newly built space.• Developed new systems and procedures for compliance: I worked with our asset custodians in Switzerland to develop paperwork and compliance procedures for our new company, and reporting profiles for clients.

Role involved handling trading activity for high net-worth clients including Currency, Stocks, Bonds, Options & Derivatives. Granted award for outstanding client service in large part for my work on two deals totalling over 25 million dollars in assets. Assisted or handled the creation of communication materials, wrote and submitted articles to industry relevant publications. Some sales and business development responsibilities.

I worked as an Associate Advisor to three different VPs at RBC DS, and was the Branch Administrator/Office Manager of the White Rock, BC location. In total, I worked in 4 different locations within Canada and the Cayman Islands. I was relocated to Halifax from British Columbia to join a 3-person team, managing assets in excess of 340 million dollars.In addition to trading and client relationship responsibilities, my duties included travel management, scheduling, preparation of presentations, completion of paper work, P&L monitoring, compliance oversight, branch technology, negotiating with suppliers, event planning and being up to date on all projects and initiatives within the branch. I was also responsible for an administrative staff of seven.Key accomplishments:• Granted award for outstanding service: I received this award which included a large financial bonus, in large part, for my work on two deals totaling over 25 million dollars in assets.• Developed a client service plan that was adopted on a national basis: I created an efficient relationship management model that allowed teams managing large asset bases to proactively address client needs for communication and contact. I was invited to Toronto to present this plan to the National Training department and it was eventually adopted as a best practice on an international basis.• Completed several Canadian Securities Institute and industry related courses: I completed the CSC, CPH, Insurance Licensing, Options Licensing, and Derivatives & Fundamentals courses.
