I've spent over a decade in senior roles across the Scottish charity and arts sectors, specialising in community development, strategic planning, project management and grant making. ​I lead projects right from inception and planning, through implementation, to evaluating successes and learning. I build partnerships with all kinds of organisations (local and national, private, public and third sector), prioritising my values of widening access, bringing people together and maximising impact. I have a particular passion for new and ambitious projects that connect people and ideas, that widen access or tackle social injustices, or that need a real burst of energy to take them to the next level of impact. Stirling

After 9 months away on secondment, I was delighted to return to Macrobert Arts Centre and the new role of Operations Director. Leading the Development, Box Office, Front of House, Marketing and Venue teams, it's a varied, busy and challenging role. I'm focused on ensuring Macrobert's operations run smoothly, and lead the charge in terms of engagement, connectivity, and creating social good through creativity.

As Development Manager, I am responsible for raising funds from a variety of sources including trusts and foundations, a ticket levy, individual supporters, businesses/corporate sponsors, fundraising events and themed campaigns. I also lead a two year, Creative Scotland-funded research project entitled 'Innovation in Fundraising'.

Voluntary Arts Scotland works to promote and increase participation in creative cultural activities. We offer direct support to the 8,000+ community-based creative groups in Scotland, undertake lobbying and advocacy work to highlight the contribution these groups make to our communities, and forge connections between creativity and the wider social sector. As Director, I oversee new initiatives, lead collaborations extending across the UK and further afield, and champion the contribution creative groups make to our national wellbeing and culture.

Grants Assessors review, investigate and analyse funding applications in order to present a summary of pertinent points and clear recommendation to a local Community Panel. Assessment assists the Panel in determining whether the application is a good fit with the Fund, and enables them to prioritise applications within a funding round so they can make informed decisions on which should receive funding. The role also supports the Community Panel and Foundation Scotland in demonstrating independence and accountability in decision-making.

Stirling

'Stirling Soup' (Finalist: Celebrating Communities at the Scottish Charity Awards, 2017) is a community crowd-funding event, bringing together local people to support projects that improve our local area. Local people donate £5 to join an evening of live music and great food, and listen to 4 or 5 pitches from local people who have an idea or project to make Stirling a better place to live. At the end of the night, the project securing most votes from those present takes away all of the donations to invest in their project (and returns to a future event to update us all on its progress). Since May 2016, we have raised over £2,300 for local causes.

Kilgraston is an independent school, offering day and boarding education for girls aged 3 to 18.Key objectives include increasing alumnae engagement using the principals of donor development, recruiting new pupils, and developing the awareness and reputation around the school’s offering. I had lead responsibility for the organisation of at least three donor development events per year, focussed on increasing engagement and the conversion of prospective targets.I had responsibility for all areas of marketing and communication, including the development of an effective and outcome-focussed presence via social media, and managed relationships with major corporate partners.
