About Kathy Engstrom

I graduated with my Master’s of Legal Studies from Hamline University August 2020. The path to my master’s degree was anything but typical. My career spans healthcare benefits, state programs, legislative relations, and administrative law. But, it is this diverse foundation that enables me to deliver real value to programs and people sitting at the intersection of law, policy, and healthcare. My passion for aligning the resources to maximize results while navigating this complex structure. I have done this while working as a volunteer for a non-profit, employee in a small business, and as part of a program that serves as a fiscal agent for the State of Minnesota. Now, I am looking for the right opportunity to apply all of these skills to continue to grow professionally while serving people across the systems.I am most successful working with team members who excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. I am organized and able to manage competing priorities, while maintaining excellent results and attention to detail. I have strong communication and interpersonal skills, and am not afraid to take on challenging requests and think outside of the box to problem solve....I thrive in unraveling messy problems, while establishing on-going process and procedures. I am resourceful, proactive and always willing to lend a helping hand. Some of my recent achievements include:• Program Management - worked cross-functionally with legal, HR, operations, finance, and multiple administrative agencies to define milestones and coordinate resources to drive momentum in programs.• Highly Regulated Project Management - applied strong knowledge of complex regulatory and legal requirements to advocate for clients while aligning the resources to ensure the delivery of services on time and at budget.• Policy Analysis and Implementation - coordinated coalitions, led grassroots initiatives, and played a leadership role in taking government relations initiatives from idea through implementation.• Effective Operations Management - identified and implemented incremental change to streamline and standardize the operations while removing impediments and aligning the human capital with the strategic plan.• Collaborative Leadership - hired, trained, and developed high-performing teams comprised of internal and external resources including volunteers or vendors to execute operational initiatives.
