Team Lead - Litigation Paralegal
Oversee team of five litigation paralegals. Responsibilities include hiring, staff orientation and training, and mentoring. Oversee workload and quality of work of litigation paralegals. Assist paralegals with cases as need.Responsible for tracking “Key Performance Indicators” and ensuring that goals are met.Participate in meetings with firm management.Schedule caseload, assign coverage for absent litigation paralegals and/or uncovered caseloads as appropriate or when necessary to support litigation paralegals in their job performance.Exercise good problem-solving skills and the ability to mediate conflicts in a constructive manner.Manage a case load of up to 200 heavily litigated files from filing suit up to trial. Communicate with opposing counsel and court clerks.Maintain and schedule calendars of hearings, depositions, mediations and scheduling orders/case management deadlines for eight attorneys.Draft legal documents including written discovery, expert designations, motions, notices, witness and exhibit lists, etc. Prepare document productions. E-file documents in state and federal court in Kansas and Missouri.Involved with trial preparation including drafting jury instructions, deposition designations, witness and exhibit lists, etc.Constant client contact through phone calls, emails and scheduled office meetings. Responsible for researching, reviewing and analyzing information and case materials, including client medical records and investigational materials; preparing summaries and analyses.Engage in pre-litigation personal injury liability claims. Responsibilities include coordinating collection of medical records and bills, drafting and preparing settlement demands, communicating with insurance companies, and lien resolution (Medicare, Medicaid, ERISA and private plans).
