Kathy (Ferrell) Hickerson is an experienced public relations professional and non-profit executive.Prior to joining Corpay's NAF Marketing Team as the Director of Events, she served as the first Public Information Officer and first female Department Director with the Town of Smyrna, TN. Hickerson was the spokesperson for the Town on all matters, including public safety. The Town's website, local PEG channel, and all social media platforms were under her purview.A veteran of the non-profit sector, she served as the Executive Director for the Heart of Tennessee Chapter of the American Red Cross. Hickerson was responsible for operations in the 17 county chapter area including external relations, volunteer development, fundraising, Board of Directors development, and stakeholder relationship management. She twice deployed to serve as an elected official liaison and external communicator in central Florida for Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Dorian.Before joining Red Cross, Hickerson served as the Community Benefit Manager for Saint Thomas Health. She had oversight for community engagement and external relations for Saint Thomas Rutherford, Saint Thomas DeKalb, Saint Thomas Highlands, Saint Thomas River Park, and Saint Thomas Stones River Hospitals. Additionally, Hickerson was responsible for developing, operationalizing, and overseeing all efforts surrounding Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital’s Mobile Health Ministry.For her service with Red Cross, Saint Thomas Health, and volunteerism in the greater Rutherford County community, Kathy is honored to have received the following awards:• 2019 Junior League of Murfreesboro’s Anne Davis Leadership Award• 2016 Murfreesboro Magazine’s Women in Business• 2014 Tennessee Public Health Association’s Visionary Award• 2013 Tennessee Association of School Social Workers’ Friend to Children Award• 2012 Saint Thomas Health’s nominee for the Tennessee Hospital Association’s Healthcare Hero Award• 2009 Rutherford County Community Service Award• 2008 Junior League of Murfreesboro’s Outstanding Service AwardA proud graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelor’s degree in English, Kathy continues to serve her community as a board member of the 23rd Judicial District's Child Advocacy Center. She is a past board member of the Rutherford County Child Advocacy Center, The Journey Home, Kymari House, Mayors' Homeless Task Force, Rutherford CABLE, Murfreesboro City Schools Coordinated School Health Advisory Council, Rutherford County Wellness Council, and the Junior League of Murfreesboro.
