I have spent 40+ years in the education industry. Throughout my career, I have had the good fortune to serve in top positions in both publishing and technology companies, including executive positions with Pearson and IBM. In December of 2014, I retired from Pearson after 10 years of service and where I served as Executive Vice President Education Alliances, for the Pearson Foundation. After retiring, I was selected as a Fellow of the Advanced Leadership Initiative (ALI) at Harvard University and completed the program in 2014. Inspired by my time in the program, I co-founded a global non-profit called Girls Thinking Global (GTG), which had as its mission to connect global change-makers to empower adolescent girls around the world. GTG is now part of the Women Education's Project, where I now serve on the Board of Directors. While I have retired from corporate life, I remain active in the education space, serving as a consultant to companies, non-profits, superintendent groups and education associations. I also serve on the board of directors for several non-profit and for-profit organizations and I present nationally and internationally on leadership, diversity in the business world and gender equity issues. Since retiring in 2014, I have also co-authored two books, Real Women, Real Leaders: Surviving and Succeeding in the Business World (Wiley) with Priscilla Shumway, and InnovateHERs: Why Purpose-Driven Entrepreneurial Women Rise to the Top (Bublish) with Dr. Barbara Kurshan.
