I started working for Franklin County DSS in l979 as a clerk. I then moved to Senior Clerk, then to a Social Welfare Examiner, then to Senior Social Welfare Examiner. I retired from my position as Senior Social Welfare Examiner- HEAP Coordinator. I became the HEAP Coordinator in April 2005. My job entailed administering and overseeing the HEAP Program. I worked with the fuel/furnace and utility vendors throughout the county.Requested monies back from vendor's and reissued them to the correct vendor if necessary.I was on call for after hour emergency calls. I also worked closely with the Office of the Aging and the Weatherization Departments. I oversaw the payments unit (which entailed monies that were taken in by Franklin County DSS for various reasons until it was moved to another unit after the retirement of my worker that took care of payments.When she or the other clerk that took these payments were not in the office I took care of the payments. I oversaw the medical transportation until the state took it over in September 2013. This department was responsible for issuing vouchers for medical transportation for customers to get to medical appointments. Getting the vouchers ready on a weekly basis to make payments to the drivers/customers. Again if the clerk that was in charge of this was out I covered this department.I was responsible for filing accident liens and estate claims. I was responsible for filing and discharging liens on customer homes that came in for Temporary Assistance.I worked closely with our Legal Unit and the Assistant DSS Attorney. At anytime my clerical staff was out I covered their job duties along with my own. Show less
