Kathy Harris is the Managing Director of SHRM Speakers Bureau and Event Programming. She spearheaded the launching and establishment of a newly created speakers bureau, overseeing all operational aspects to ensure successful operations. Developed and executed strategic plans, resulting in a steady growth of the bureau's speaker roster and client base. Built and managed a high-performing team, providing guidance, mentorship, and training to achieve individual and organizational goals. Cultivated strong relationships with speakers, negotiating contracts and fees to ensure mutually beneficial partnerships. Kathy has also worked in private practice, specializing in the areas of government, health care, corporate governance, human resources, securities, and intellectual property law.Kathy has over 20 years of local government experience, serving as the Assistant County Administrator and Director in three large local government organizations. Her government career also includes working for the Florida House of Representatives, the South Carolina House of Representatives, and the United States Senate. Ms. Harris also served as an adjunct professor at Barry University, teaching “Leadership in Public Organizations” in the MPA program.Ms. Harris received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of South Carolina, a Masters in Public Administration from Baruch College, the end result of a National Urban Fellowship, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law. She is a member of the Florida Bar. She is currently working on her Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology with a Specialization in Industrial Organizational at Northcentral University.
