Live Tv Producer
CurrentI have worked with CrossFit since 2012 as a Producer of live TV and web-streamed competitions and other video projects. For all three phases of the CrossFit Games season -- Opens, Regionals, and Games -- I lead a team in the field to bring live streaming events to CrossFit fans, including online streaming and broadcast on CBS and CBS Sports Network (formerly on ESPN) and Eurosport. This work has honed my skill in the hot seat of live production, and provided me expert knowledge of the sport of CrossFit and sports elements in general. At CrossFit HQ, I've worked in post-production to produce shows for ESPN and Eurosport, and produced and directed several episodes of "The CrossFit Games Update Show", a hosted 15-30 minute news and highlights show that covers the Games season.
Feature Producer
For DRL, I worked on-location around the country and internationally at drone racing events, and in post-production locally, to create the first show of its kind. As a brand new sport, drone racing had not yet been introduced to a TV viewer. I worked primarily on the Features side to engage viewers with the pilots and their personalities through interviews, profiles, and behind-the-scenes content. I also worked closely with on-camera hosts and commentators to tell the story of the races and provide context and literacy for viewers of this brand new sport.
Producer
For the GRID League, a newly-created fitness sport, I worked as a Feature Producer (2014-2016) and as a Lead Producer overseeing post-production (2016). As Feature Producer, I created athlete profiles, teases, informational pieces, and sponsor elements for the shows, including writing scripts. As a Lead Producer, I worked with a post-production team to edit and deliver several episodes of a 90-minute show to NBCSN.
Producer/Writer
Along with shooter/editor Greg Mishey, I produced this one-hour documentary on families living with fragile X syndrome, the leading known cause of inherited mental disability and autism. Children and adults who have fragile X face enormous developmental challenges, and their families experience a unique blend of frustration, reward, and fear for the future. The film was a true labor of love, as the two of us alone shot more than 70 hours of footage and edited the film ourselves, taking on the majority of the expense of production, with some financial backing from fragile X support groups and private donations. The film was released in January 2008 and went on to be broadcast on PBS stations around the U.S. from 2010 through 2012. It was featured at several film festivals, including the Thessaloniki International Film Festival in Greece, where it was part of a festival segment on persons with special needs.
Senior Feature Producer
For five seasons, I worked as a Feature Producer on FLW Outdoors, both on-location around the country and in post-production. In this role, I produced broadcast content for the tournament bass fishing show, including angler profiles, fishing tips and advice, location profiles, behind-the-scenes pieces, show teases, and sponsor elements.
