I’m a person with multiple interests and am passionate about several things. To date, my career and professional training has been in ecosystem resiliency and land management/sustainability. This fits well with my love of the outdoors and my passion for working with livestock and animals in general. As a part of my toolbox in the area of land sustainability, I’ve worked closely with veterinarians in livestock production in the dairy and sheep industry, companion animal health and welfare principles, and most recently in noxious weed management so that I can better understand herbicides and mechanical and cultural controls. However, the most rewarding part of my job is working with landowners and integrated resource professionals to develop a coordinated resource strategy that eliminates fragmented planning. Such an organized effort usually leads to being able to implement a long-term, sustainable plan for land use and management - that is certainly one of the most satisfying parts of my profession. Over the years, I’ve come to appreciate the importance of collaborating with partners, stakeholders, and working with teams to preserve, conserve, and renew ecosystems that have been degraded. I recognize and appreciate the diverse experience and contributions of my peers and our staff, and I try to promote a work culture of accountability and productivity. I thrive in positions where I can learn and grow professionally, ideally contributing innovative solutions to challenges. There is so much to be done in the critical area of land management and sustainability. I look forward to continuing my work in this constantly evolving field.
