I served as an operational consultant and advisory board member of this Internet of Things (IoT) technology startup. I partnered with the founders to take the product to market by supporting each step of the lifecycle. The construction technology product was cloud-based and included key partnerships with hardware providers including RFID companies. I also served as a sounding board to the leadership team to navigate each step of product development and enhancement. My focus in this capacity was on helping the stakeholders define the vision, evaluate the technology, and remove roadblocks to success. I also prioritized the end users and served to document the business, operational, and functional needs of the product portfolio. We also explored partnerships with construction SaaS technology providers during this time. These integration partners were aimed at helping to expand the market share while also increasing the functionality of the solutions.

Cadre Scheduling helped staffing companies, large employers, and enterprise operating in multiple jurisdictions deploy contingent workforces, It did this by managing candidate communication, dramatically improving return in work opportunity tax credit (WOTC), and automating compliance with city or state laws governing employee scheduling.

I took the growth opportunity to join the national staffing and recruiting firm to lead the turnaround of the Minneapolis market. I served as the managing director of the privately held company in the role that reported to the Chief Operating Officer and served on the Executive Leadership Team. I oversaw a multi-state market that spanned most of the Midwest while also supporting my colleagues in the service of enterprise clients. My team grew to 5 direct reports and 350 indirect reports while I held full accountability for the multi-million dollar P&L. I scaled the operations rapidly as the person overseeing the sales, HR, project delivery, and compliance for the area. I did this by building the processes, empowering my team, and focusing on solutions to meet tight timelines. A few achievements in this time were:• Stood up an additional location for the branch resulting in a 200% increase in size (space, people, technology, and hardware) to enable delivery of legal technology projects to serve a key global client.• Designed all processes and playbooks for the branch serving a multi-state region (MN, WI, IL, ND, SD, IA, KS, MO) to ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and corporate expectations.• Spearheaded the recruiting, screening, training, and management of 50+ attorneys applying their multi-lingual skills to deliver projects in multiple languages (Mandarin, Spanish, Portuguese, French).• Owned the success of the portfolio of projects including the service of AmLaw 50 firms and global enterprises with accountability for reporting progress to the client.• Learned and trained staff and contractors on new legal technologies to deliver legal projects and services.• Hired and managed the performance of external legal counsel and technology providers as the link between the C-Suite, clients, and the regional staff.Clients Served: Fortune 500 Companies, Pharmaceuticals, Financial Services, Consulting, Technology

I joined the publicly traded company in the newly acquired Practical Law business unit. I was a Senior Attorney Editor that functioned as a product manager that built, tested quality and facilitated the rollout of the digital content products used by lawyers and licensed professionals across the US. My experience representing companies across the US in a variety of commercial matters enabled me to serve as the voice of the customer. I performed the research, contributed to the product development, and performed testing of the quality of the material. I also applied enterprise standards and regulatory expectations to each product to ensure its adherence and overall ability to meet the needs of end users. I helped to localize the products across jurisdictions with varying regulatory and practice variances. I did this by researching, testing, and contributing to the resulting work. I also reviewed the work of others in product development to ensure that the deliverables met quality and usability expectations. I joined the regional firm in the top 10 for attorney size in Minnesota as an associate attorney. I returned to the Twin Cities and quickly joined the larger firm with my boutique firm and in-house legal experience. I served as part of the bankruptcy and restructuring group during this time. My role included representing business clients in a variety of turnaround, restructuring, and bankruptcy proceedings. I was also charged with leading the collection of the firm's receivables and I worked at the direction of the Head of Ethics & Board Secretary in this capacity. My dual function during this time required me to balance a number of competing priorities across a variety of regulatory and legal frameworks. I applied my strong attention to detail and analytical capabilities to build and deliver complex legal strategies, resulting in successful outcomes for the firm's clients.Accomplishments during this time included:• Slashed outstanding debts by 150% in 12 months and recovered over $1M on behalf of the professional services firm by creating and managing programs to manage risk, systemize processes, and progress the right resolutions. • Designed, obtained executive buy-in, launched, and improved the playbooks for highly regulated processes that required a combination of legal, technology, and operational changes.• Led teams of attorneys (internal and external) through the full lifecycle of programs and projects for the organization and clients that required court or regulatory approvals.• Coordinated documentation, prepared reports, and facilitated court approvals of payments to all professionals in pending restructuring and bankruptcy matters including accountants, outside counsel, service providers, and experts. • Managed a portfolio of legal matters with varying complexity across industries and practice areas including contracts, employment law, commercial finance, governance, and asset-based deals.

I was an associate attorney with a boutique commercial law firm. I represented the Chapter 7 and Chapter 12 bankruptcy trustee during this time. I also advocated on behalf of small businesses and creditor's committees in complex restructuring and SEC matters.During my time as an associate attorney, I gained a deep understanding of commercial legal matters including finance, contracts, litigation, restructuring, and bankruptcy. I gained a unique combination of experience with experience advocating on behalf of the estate as counsel for the DOJ-appointed Trustee, representing the debtors, serving the creditors' committees, and litigating or negotiating deals outside of court. This depth and breadth of commercial legal experience required sharing business, finance, and legal advice with clients to advance their interests. It also required the ability to think strategically to align the parties in the process to achieve the desired outcomes. As a result, I was regularly working across industries, legal matters, and analyzing complex information under tight regulatory deadlines. Achievements in this capacity included:• Represented the receiver in the federal securities case and assisted in marshalling approximately $150M in assets (SEC v. McNaul, et. al)• Recovered assets for the estates of multiple Chapter 7 cases prompted by the unexpected assets resulting from the Spirit Aerosystems IPO.• Assisted in the representation of debtors and creditors to the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel (BAP) for the Tenth Circuit.• Represented the estate of In re Wild West World which included coordination with multiple government agencies.• Orchestrated and contributed to the restructuring or turnarounds of small and mid-size businesses across a variety of legal, financial, and operational matters.The time came to return to Minnesota and I left the firm to relocate to the Twin Cities. I quickly landed in my next role where I joined a regional firm in a partnership track capacity.

I served as an attorney with the nonprofit providing pro bono and low-bono representation to people in the Wichita area. I relocated to Wichita after graduating law school and began with the nonprofit as a volunteer while I studied for the Kansas bar exam. I was later hired on to fill an unexpected opening on a temporary basis. My work with the nonprofit included representing clients in court proceedings and administrative legal matters. I also contributed to the representation of appellate matters on complex claims. I worked across a high volume of matters with strong attention to detail and prioritization. Given the nature of the matters that I worked on, I interacted with a wide range of people with varying knowledge and abilities. I educated the clients on their legal options and provided education on the potential avenues to achieve their goals. I also performed legal research and analyzed complex medical records to support the representation of clients. Results in this role included:• Compiled and analyzed data from multiple sources to identify trends, prepare reports with recommendations, and negotiate deals that advanced the interests of clients.• Gained considerable courtroom experience advocating for clients with quick turnaround and emotionally charged matters.• Researched and wrote appellate briefs that required learning new legal areas and regulatory requirements to effectively position the facts on behalf of clients.

I externed with the Chief Justice of the Office of Administrative Hearings while in my third year of law school. During this time, I was able to work with a number of administrative law judges to attend hearings, write opinions, and provide legal research. I covered a number of topics in this role including: agency rulemaking, professional licensure, sex offender reassessment, public utilities, and zoning.

I was a law clerk with a boutique litigation firm based in St. Paul. I worked part-time directly serving clients during my third year of law school. My strong analysis and communication skills led to my selection to work directly with the principal shareholder and his right hand to support some of the most complex legal matters. I worked on a variety of administrative legal matters including healthcare compliance, appeals, and complex employment law claims. My focus in this role was supporting complex litigation, administrative matters, and appeals. As a third-year student, I conducted extensive legal research and reviewed various legal positions. I also tapped into my prior in-house experience to take the initiative and prepare critical legal documents, pleadings, and position assessment memos. My strong organizational skills and practical legal operations experience enabled me to take on a greater capacity in the service of clients.I also worked directly with clients including small and mid-size businesses during this time. I partnered with the clients to compile the factual information and documentation for their representation, provided regular updates, and supported the leading attorneys. I was the executive legal assistant for the Deputy General Counsel and General Counsel of the energy wholesaler. I joined this company after completing my bachelor's degree and relocating to Minneapolis. I served in this role initially as a temporary employee and was hired during the period of the uncertainty to support the commercial attorneys and then I was promoted to support the executive leaders of the legal department. The company was acquired by Xcel Energy right before I started with the organization. In my first week, I saw most of the senior executives walked out as part of the post-acquisition integration. From there, the company faced a number of challenges as the regulatory landscape for wholesale energy sales and distribution changed dramatically. This prompted an involuntary bankruptcy filing that was dismissed, a voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization that was successful in the Southern District of New York, and the company subsequently going public on the NYSE. My results in this role included:• Prepared and managed the corporate governance documentation including meeting minutes, board of directors minutes, and approvals for 350 domestic and international entities.• Played a key role in the documentation, implementation, reporting, and compliance systems for Sarbanes-Oxley and SEC.• Responded to requests from outside counsel, accounting firms, and investment banking firms in the preparation of filings with the pending legal matters including the Chapter 11 Reorganization and IPO with the NYSE. • Served as the records management coordinator responsible for the development and implementation of a system permitting continued litigation response and document transfer as part of corporate headquarters relocation.• Created the tracking system for all outside counsel and professional services firms to control costs, monitor overages, and facilitate court approval of representation as appropriate.
