Author of Engaging Your Board in Fundraising: A Staff's Guide (published by BoardSource, 2014).In June 2014, Kathy became Executive Director of PEP - the Parent Encouragement Program - a nonprofit organization based in the Washington, DC area that builds strong, harmonious family relationships through parenting education, skills training and support. PEP helps adults foster the values of mutual respect, shared responsibility, competence and cooperation in young people, preparing them to make positive contributions to their families, their communities and the world at large. Kathy is responsible for overall staff leadership with particular focus in the areas of fundraising, external relations, finances and the execution of the organization's strategic plan for expansion and growth.From 2009 to 2012, Kathy served as the Deputy Director for the Center for a New American Dream where she oversaw the organization’s financial, fundraising and operations management. From 1995 to 2009, Kathy held executive positions at BoardSource, a nonprofit organization internationally renowned for advancing nonprofit governance. Kathy served as BoardSource's chief development officer and also led various special projects, including a study that culminated in the report, Advancing Good Governance: How Grantmakers Invest in the Governance of Nonprofit Organizations. In 2012, Kathy launched her own training and consulting service for nonprofits in the areas of fund raising, board development, and strategic planning; her clients have included the Maryland Humanities Council, the Junior League of Washington, DC, DNA Creative Communications, and BoardSource.
