Sole Human Resource generalist for Sears Holdings Michigan Support Center. Responsible for employee relations, performance development, leave of absence administration, organization development, succession planning, training, on-boarding and investigations. HR liaison for escalated benefit and/or payroll issues. Provided HR generalist support through the Kmart bankruptcy and eventual merger of Sears and Kmart. Strategized with internal business partners on organization development, employee selection and relocation activities to meet merger guidelines. Coordinated workforce reduction events for non-relocating employees. Acted as HR lead on project team to evaluate space needs and logistics for three Michigan office locations including the Sears Holdings Technology Center. The consolidation resulted in $1m annual savings due to lease reductions.Developed and implemented telecommuting program for Michigan Support Center associates which generated $250,000 annual cost savings.Developed orientation programs and conducted on-boarding for new hires including drug-screening, background checks and I-9 processing. Assisted with talent acquisition activities (in conjunction with Chicago team) to recruit top talent.Conducted leave of absence administration, workplace incident/accident investigations, unemployment and TALX research and workers compensation investigations to ensure compliance with Federal, State and corporate guidelines.Planned and coordinated miscellaneous events such as Red Cross blood drive, flu shot/immunization clinic, March of Dimes events and holiday parties to support culture initiatives.
