As Controller for 10 weekly newspapers I handle and manage all facets of accounting and financial reporting which includes month end closings and financial preparations, credit and collections, accounts receivables and billing, accounts payable, payroll, cash, reconciliations, and fixed assets. I am responsible for establishing rates and programs to optimize revenue opportunities. I developed and implemented a new rate structure to optimize sales opportunities, streamline work flow and improve newspaper deadlines. I Work directly with Advertising Director to develop revenue opportunities not only within newspaper publishing but also event planning, digital initiatives, trade agreements, commission plans, and specialty products. Responsibilities include quarterly revenue and expense forecasting, yearly budgets and year end closing. Produce and analyzed various reports to assist the company in making profitable decisions. I am a member of the executive management team and work closely with all departments and managers.Identified and implemented cost savings and expenses measures saving the company over $500k annually. Was able to reduce the accounting department from 7 people to 4 by streamlining work flow, automating billing and order enter functions and improving overall efficiencies.

Asbury Park Press, Daily Record, Courier News, and Home News Tribune Handled all facets of the daily Business Office functions for four New Jersey Gannett Newspapers. This included accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll, cash and general ledger accounting.Experienced in consolidations and improve efficiencies in the business office. Successfully merged the business office functions of several Gannett papers. Experienced in Sarbanes Oxley compliance and internal control procedures. Proven track record of excellent internal and external yearly audits. Established internal controls policies and procedures not only in the finance area but other departments as well. This also included conducting random audits on a monthly and quarterly basis. Instrumental in cost and expense savings measures of over $1.5 million in 2006 and over $250 thousand in 2007 and 2008.
