Kathy Lofton is a professional with over 20 years experience in the corporate, government, non profit, healthcare, insurance, indie film/arts and education sectors. She has a proven track record of producing results and influencing outcomes.Kathy was awarded the prestigious National Urban Fellows distinction in 2006 as a graduate student at CUNY Baruch's Marxe School of Public and International Affairs. During that public service fellowship for minorities, she fulfilled a non-partisan, experiential leadership assignment in Washington, DC as special assistant to the national director of the Minority Business Development Agency at the U.S. Department of Commerce.Prior to her fellowship, Kathy received an Executive MBA from Union University, and was active as an officer with the Memphis chapter of the National Black MBA Association. Her performance led to her appointment as a two-time award winning president and member of the national CEO's Advisory Council. A career highlight of which she's most proud, is her ideation and development of a project leading to the automation of a tool for the domestic sales force at FedEx.In addition to being a winning essay writer in Samsung Electronics' Hope for Education contest, Kathy has been awarded as 'One of 50 Women Who Make a Difference in Memphis' and with the Public Awareness and Caregiver of the Year awards with the Arc of the Midsouth. Additionally, she was a top-three finalist for a public service media campaign contest co-hosted by Bridges USA and Facing History and Ourselves.The arts are a passion for this festival-winning indie filmmaker, writer, producer and photographer. Working with marginalized groups, particularly the aging population and the indigent, are also things she is passionate about.Kathy is an aluma of Nexus Leadership, Leadership Memphis, and AmeriCorps.
