Executive DirectorFriends Of The Trails Jan 1992 - Sep 1999Kathy's role with Friends of the Trails was to campaign as a Statewide organization representing cyclists in Florida in order to show support for the authorization of the Inter-model Surface Transportation Efficiency Act. Kathy grew the organization's membership while obtaining signatures for the "Share the Road" license plate which would establish an ongoing Statewide Cycling organization through proceeds from its sales. The beneficiary being the Florida Bicycle Association.Kathy's work was extensive starting with a massive mailing to over 2000 cyclists and elected officials describing the urgency of obtaining funding in order to make Florida safer for cyclists. This was the first of four newspapers during the campaign. Kathy's other activities were to:* Travel to cities across the state hosting "Bike Breakfast" work shops for bike shop owners.* Attend conferences for and about sustainability through bicycling infrastructure.* Solicit donations and build membership* Educate developers on the cycling network* Educate elected officials* Work with planning to establish local routes* Involve citizens for support through letter writing and votes* Host local workshops
