About Kathy Ooi
I derive joy from creating new things and from transforming existing items into more refined forms. This joy underpins the work that I do at Punchy Prose, my own company, which offers proofreading and learning design services. What initially began as casual, one-off jobs to harness my adeptness with words has since evolved into a growing business with a regular clientele of academics from universities in New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom, and China. I have always had an eye for visual design and a passion for presenting things in striking ways. My background in research, higher education, and providing learning support to tertiary students found, in learning design, the ideal opportunity to marry my writing skills and creative bent with my love of developing new things. One of my proudest achievements in this field is my initiation of H5P activities in online courses for Northland District Health Board. This initiative changed the landscape of online learning for the organisation, opening up new possibilities in enhancing learner engagement, checking learner understanding of material, and providing feedback to learners at their point of need. Colleagues and clients who have worked with me across my career consistently comment on the exceptional quality of my work, be it in editing academic writing or designing learning experiences. This boils down to the simple fact that I am passionate about what I do and I treat every work task as an opportunity to exceed expectations.
Listed skills include Teaching, Higher Education, Research, University Teaching, and 20 others.
