About Kathy Parker, M.B.A.

I've found a "work home" within the non-profit world after spending most of my career in the pharmaceutical industry. I volunteer at the Immigration Advocacy and Support Center, a small but mighty organization in New London, just 15 minutes from my home. I started working at the center just after it opened, in December, 2014. Joseph Marino is our immigration lawyer, and Angela Florez Penilla is our Paralegal. We offer legal assistance at low-cost to immigrants seeking citizenship, reunification with family members, DACA renewals, Temporary Protected Status, and other immigration status changes.I coordinate our internship program, write grants, and track our finances. The office is filled with chatter in Spanish and English, with youthful idealism, and with dedicated experience. Helping our local immigrant population is a concrete way to demonstrate the power of love over hate.

    IASC has grown over time and so has my role as Board Treasurer & Volunteer Coordinator. For many years I have written grant proposals for foundation and government funding. More recently, I have had an opportunity to learn new tools. In 2018 I implemented our Quickbooks accounting system and now make regular updates to produce our financial reports. In 2019 I created an updated website for IASC using Wix (iascct.org). In 2020 I implemented Network for Good software as our Development platform. The platform hosts our Newsletter and other communications. I work with adult volunteers who assist with accounting and development. My work and the work of other volunteers make it possible for 100% of donations to IASC to go entirely towards helping immigrants.
