SCSEP works with people 55+ to develop job skills relevant to employers’ needs, and connect them to employers online, in person, and through employer group opportunities.Cultivate business and employment partnerships that serve the needs of both Easter Seals clients and the employers. Secure non-profit host sites to meet program objectives.Individual case management including creating Individual Employment Plans, program recertification, and job placement in appropriate non-profit organizations.

Helped students ages 6 to 12 improve academic performance in reading, writing, and mathematics by as much as four grade levels.Cooperated with parents and director to provide the individualized educational support each child required to succeed. Utilized a variety of motivation methods to engage students in learning, both in a small group setting and one on one.Gained proficiency in, and utilized, Sylvan Learning Center’s proprietary diagnostic tracking system to monitor growth and results.

Portland, Oregon Area

Coordinated program that provided advocacy for approximately 100 students transitioning from high school to college, and developed a college readiness summer program in conjunction with Pacific University.Advocates assisted students with college choice, application, and entry, and retention. Managed and supported student advocates, arranged business tours and college visits, organized special events including speakers, provided career counseling, and identified resources for students. Renewed commitment to current college students by increasing retention services, including assisting them with accessing up to $4,000 of funding from the organization.

Portland, Oregon Area

Created and operated an employment preparation program for recent high school graduates, which served over 5,000 youth in three years.Worked with participants to define goals, provided work skills training, helped participants acquire needed certifications such as driver’s license, food handler’s card, and CPR card, and assisted with the college entry process.Secured over $100,000 in direct funding and over $300,000 worth of no-cost space, supplies, and services each year.

Portland, Oregon Area

Designed and implemented two pioneering employment programs for Portland students: The Portland Area Career Training (PACT) Center and The Partnership Project. The PACT Center connected students and local businesses for mutually beneficial employment relationships and served over 46,000 youth, 6,000 parents, and 18,000 businesses. The Partnership Project targeted at-risk youth for school-to-career training and was one of the most successful programs of its kind in the United States. Participating students had a 98% graduation rate, 95% retention rate, and a 90% on the job success rate. Awarded Skilled Employment Specialist and Educator of the Year by Associated Industries of Oregon and the Portland Chamber of Commerce.
