About Kathy Yuen
I help homeowners create the home of their dreams. My vision is to impact the world and leave a legacy, one custom home at a time. My vision is to do this by building an amazing company, creating an amazing place to work, and fill it with a team of like-minded, extremely talented designers who can learn from each other, challenge each other, and actually LIKE each other in their day to day work. Work should be FUN!! Life is too short for it not to be.I founded Phase One Design in 2006.Since then, we have quickly (but with a TON of really hard work!!) grown into a well recognized, award-winning custom home design firm. Phase One Design works with both homeowners and home builders across Western Canada, and has successfully expanded to two studio locations - Calgary and Vancouver. Phase One Design has been nominated and won over 15 design awards, most recently winning 2 SAM awards in 2017. Our team has been fortunate to design over 500 homes in the past 11 years. We leave a trail of raving fans and happy clients by practicing what we call "ego-free" design and truly listening to what our clients want for their homes.Most importantly, I want to make an impact and difference in people's lives - my clients, my staff, and everyone I encounter in my day to day life. I love public speaking and seek out as many public speaking events as I can. I most recently shared the stage with HGTV stars like Bryan Baulmer and Mike Homes Jr. at the BC Home and Garden Show. Nominated for RBC's Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award in both 2016 and 2017.
