In my role within PACCAR Parts Europe (PPE) together with my small team (2 FTE), we were responsible for identifying new business opportunities, tracking macro- and socio-economic developments, providing insights for competitive market advantage, facilitate senior management in strategic decision making, and gauge impact of company efforts. Activities:- Investigate the impact of electrification and connectivity and identify potential use cases- Develop and maintain strategic models on truck parc, market size/share, dealer performance, macro economic trends, etc.- Respond to (ad hoc) requests on e.g. competitor benchmarking, new market potential, country-specific market insights, market dynamics, etc.

Within my capacity as a New Business Developer in the Smart Cities group I worked on new business development, business model innovation, ecosystems, strategy, business cases, knowledge management, service innovation, establishing collaborations, among others. I have been involved in several projects that developed and transferred smart city propositions and services based on connected public lighting. On top of that we published several articles on smart cities and business model innovation.

My graduation project took place at Philips Lighting Benelux Sales and Marketing organization, focusing specifically on the public lighting market that was being revolutionized through the introduction of LED. The goal of the research was to find out how Philips Lighting can transition from products to services by using valuable business model innovation analogies, including Philips Healthcare, Ricoh/Xerox, and Spotify. The main practical contributions were several propositions, business model designs, and recommendations for Philips Lighting, while scientifically I investigated how to use analogies in a corporate setting.Final Grade: 9/10
