Hello, I am Katia.I have a background in academia, all in public universities in Brazil, from getting a bachelor’s degree in 5 years, and a master’s degree in 2 years to getting a PhD and then into teaching and researching animal care, nutrition, behaviour and welfare for 12 years.I provide veterinary counselling to a startup (Petbiomas) that offers an innovative product that identifies the microbiome of animals. I have been helping them create content, and this involves a lot of research, learning, writing, brainstorming, iterating and teamwork. This dynamic made me realize what really drives me and fulfills me. I like managing different projects, researching, learning, iterating, brainstorming, and seeing the results. I am currently the Animal Welfare Program Research Coordinator at the Department of Land and Food Systems in the University of British Columbia - Canada.
