Aikaterini - Katia Mari is an Ethnomusicologist, musician and music educator.Currently a PHD candidate at the Department of Music Studies of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens and research assistant at the UNESCO Chair "Anthropology of Traditional Music" (Chairholder Prof. Pavlos Kavouras). Her research is a critical anthropological investigation of policies for the representation and preservation of traditional music as intangible cultural heritage, titled "Traditional music in UNESCO: representing, safeguarding and repositioning music as living heritage".She has graduated with honours from the Department of Music Studies of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens with a Major in Ethnomusicology and Cultural Anthropology (MA) and partial completion of her studies at the City University of London (Erasmus).Scholar of the State Scholarship Foundation (I.K.Y.) (2011-2012) andSkylitsis Foundation, London - The Hedley Music Scholarship (2014).She has worked as an intern at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC),the Greek Music Center and the Greek High School of Cologne, Germany. She holds a degree of piano perfomance(2016) and harmony (2012) from the Nea Techni Conservatory. She has worked as a musician in primary education (2019-2023) , while in 2020 she completed the "special education in education" seminar from the University of the Aegean and in 2021 go certified as IB PYP Educator. Since 2023 is been working as General Manager at MUSE- NGO advancing the role of performing arts and cultural heritage for community empowerment and societal resilience. She speaks Greek (mother tongue), English and German.
