I was not always adventurous, nor was I courageous. It was the (re)learning of my relationship with fear that set me on the path to what I do today.A soldier from the Military Tancos Aerodrome taught me that it's normal to be afraid. After a childhood spent running away from what scared me, I found myself at age 12 at the top of the Tower used for paratrooper jump training.Trembling and with a nervous laughter, clutching the cold metal of the stairs, I asked this armored man who pushed me into the abyss what could I do to stop feeling afraid. His response was the turning point for the life I embraced from then on: "Young lady, I only know two kinds of people who aren't afraid. Either they are liars, or they are crazy."From orienteering to adventure races, from mountain biking to scuba diving, from ultra trails to adventure therapy, from spearfishing to pioneering new paths in social innovation, my life is marked by adventure, with fear as the catalyst not only for courage but for learning how to navigate the most vulnerable zones.I am a licensed clinical psychologist and a social entrepreneur. For over two decades, I have led teams and non governmental organizations, both nationally and internationally, contributing to the improvement of the system of care for at-risk children and youth in Portugal.I founded Beyond Fear and today, I help individuals, teams, and organizations normalize fear, stress, and anxiety by helping them (re)learn their relationship with fear.I am a key note speaker and give lectures, I teach at universities for over two decades, and work as a consultant and a trainer. I also provide clinical psychology individual consultations.My fuel is learning something new every day, creating content, and writing.
