Katie Badders is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Towson University and her Masters in Social Work from University of Maryland Baltimore. Ms. Badders previously was the coordinator for the Harford County Neighborhood Youth Panel. She worked with the Harford County Sheriff's Office and the Office of Drug Control Policy to implement and supervise the Harford County Teen Court. She helped lead the development of the Harford County Sheriff's Office award winning Pledge Program amd the Havre de Grace Police Safety Camp program. In addition, she assisted Addiction Connections Resource in the development of a life choice awareness and alcohol and drug education program for adolescents.Katie is a state of Maryland approved Social Worker Supervisor and Supervisor of Alcohol & Drug Counseling. She is a certified QPR Suicide Prevention Instructor and a certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor. She does presentations on many topics including drugs, alcohol, suicide, mental health for different organiztions. She is the lead trainer for Lauren's Law and is currently on the training team for the Baltimore City Police Department. She volunteers on many committees including Harford County Suicide Prevention Workgroup, Harford County Mental Health First Aid workgroup, Cherish the Child Symposium, Harford County Trauma Institute, and the local Cub Scouts.During her counseling career, Ms. Badders has worked with children, adolescents, adults, families, and groups. She has worked in multiple mental health settings, including: an inpatient psychiatric unit, inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment centers, and a non-public school serving students with emotional and behavioral disturbances. She works with youth and adults who have been diagnosed with a wide range of challenges including grief, substance use disorder, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, oppositional defiant and conduct disorders, and schizophrenia. Ms. Badders provides an array of clinical services including psychotherapy, anger management, relaxation training, social skills training, addiction counseling, and grief counseling. She individualizes her approach to suit the needs of each of her clients sometimes utilizing creative materials including the use of pets, cinema, art, and music. She uses a stregth based, family focused and trauma informed approach to therapy and utilizes CBT, narrative, and Brief Solution Focused Therapy.
