Katie graduated in medicine from United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy’s and St Thomas’s hospitals, London in 1994 and then trained to become a GP. Following this, she worked at the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), London for 3 years working as a Medical Adviser providing care for employees posted overseas and Occupational health advice in London. In 2003, she took up a GP partnership in a central London teaching practice where she worked as a GP and taught Imperial College undergraduates. In 2011, she moved to Singapore and was part of the team setting up a new medical school - a joint collaboration with Imperial College, London and NTU, Singapore. She created and implemented part of the early clinical practice course; delivered teaching in clinical communication and examination skills and became a house tutor looking after the welfare of medical students. She has also worked in the Cayman Islands and US Embassy health unit in Delhi, India. Her experience to date has given her a wide reaching insight into varied institutions, cultures and socio-economic groups. She joined the Charlie Waller Trust in 2018 as part of the workplace team delivering mental health awareness training to a number of different sectors and organisations and since 2022 has worked for Jonathans Voice, a similar charity specialising in the IP sector. In August 2020, she returned to clinical practice in Occupational health working with Cordell health and in September 2022 returned to medical education at Southampton university.
