Since our founding in 2017, we have raised the profile of preemption and its consequences for our democracy by educating and connecting city attorneys, state and local elected officials, and advocates facing preemption threats, providing direct legal and strategic assistance, developing research and messaging to reframe the debate around preemption, building cross-issue coalitions at the local, state, and national levels, and providing advocates and policymakers with strategies and tools to counter preemption and advance equity-promoting policies.
