I am currently teaching 8th grade ELA at North Middle School in Loudon County. I earned a Master of Arts in Teaching at Tusculum College and licensure in secondary English education, grades 6-12. Substitute teaching as well as practicum and student-teaching elements of the MAT program provided opportunities to gain experience. I taught pre-school age children for four years to further my knowledge of literacy and language acquisition, classroom management, and creative curriculum skills. I experienced teaching an adult English as a Second Language course while living in Mexico in 2009. I facilitated seminars in Times, Genres, and Authors, and work-shopped writing with students as a professor's assistant from 2009-2011.
