One of a diverse cohort of 20 thought leaders writing, publishing, and advocating for climate change action, in collaboration with the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication and The OpEd Project.

I co-founded Farmer Campus, a virtual learning network that connects producers to the next generation of agricultural education.We are a woman-run small business with grassroots. Farmer Campus develops farmer-centered online education for sustainable agriculture through an interactive platform designed to enrich on-farm practices with courses and networking for a thriving producer community. FC has supported over 3,000 producers in accessing multimedia education and networking since 2019. Our programs galvanize farmers to reduce a multitude of risks through resilience planning, agroecology and financial sustainability. Together we have built 30 curriculum modules, led and facilitated five certificate programs, ran five successful resilience education projects, and published case studies, videos, and podcasts. We also actively collaborate, incubate, and consult with like-minded organizations and farms- be in touch!

I freelance as a writer and journalist highlighting stories and issues from global social and environmental movements. My stories work to center underrepresented voices and topics in the food movement and have been featured in anti-racism, food sovereignty and queer ecology trainings across the country. Work published through Civil Eats, The Lexicon, Edible Magazine and Gastronomes.

Correspondent for the 8th International Conference of La Via Campesina in Bogota, Colombia. There, I collected interviews, audio and video recordings, and photographs for pitching feature-length stories and producing other communications collateral to amplify the global movement for food sovereignty and agroecology. Real Food Media was one of a handful of trusted media partners given access to landmark meetings, such as the Diversity Meeting of LVC’s first-ever LGBTQIA peasants assembly.

Co-founded ecological, no-till flower CSA with support from farm owners Elizabeth and Paul Kaiser. When the flowers aren't blooming I am a dedicated farm crew member on our 8 acre diversified vegetable farm. The farm is recipient of five Ecological Awards, the 2016 Excellence in Local Food Production and the 2016 International Green Institute Hall of Fame Award. Together we practice innovative no-till, climate resilient agriculture that sequesters carbon, provides habitat and feeds our community with flowers and food.

The mission of the Center for Agroecology & Sustainable Food Systems (CASFS) is to research, develop, and advance sustainable food and agricultural systems that are environmentally sound, economically viable, socially responsible, nonexploitative, and that serve as a foundation for future generations. Daily practical work on organic, 30-acre mixed vegetable, fruit and flower farm and Alan Chadwick Garden including propagation & greenhouse management, orchard care, bed preparation, crop maintenance, seed saving, irrigation, bouquet making, harvesting & post-harvest handling for farm stand & CSA, marketing, and compost making. Weekly academic learning in theory and techniques of agroecology, organic farming and gardening, as well as environmental and social justice issues in agricultural and food systems.

I directed the development, promotion and implementation of Food Sovereignty Tours, Food First’s educational travel program. I managed Food First’s growing team of international Tour Coordinators, Tour Operators, and in-country food movement partners to organize and execute yearly educational delegations that highlight different facets of the global food system and movements for food sovereignty. With a deep commitment to making these delegations accessible to young activists, low-income communities and farmers, I also helped build the Food Sovereignty Tours Scholarship Program raising and distributing over $20,000 to young leaders, farmers and people from marginalized communities. I also contributed to Food First's broad body of research, action and education.

Contribute and publish in newsletters, research, spanish/english translation and formatting as well as administrative duties, communication with diverse international and local peoples and communities, public outreach and representing Food First at local conferences. Collaborated with 9 researchers and community on extensive research pertaining to localizing and improving Santa Barbara Agriculture and food system, while quantifying it’s effect on Climate Change. My research looked specifically on migrant labor and labor rights in Santa Barbara County. Presented findings and consultations for SB county at 2010 Oil and Water Conference. More:"The Santa Barbara County Agrifood Systems Research Group is an interdisciplinary UCSB team of nine undergraduates and professor David Cleveland (Environmental Studies). Undergraduates range from freshman to senior, with majors including Anthropology, Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Studies, Global Studies, Political Science, Psychology, and Zoology. The goal of our research is to better understand our local agrifood system and engage the community in discussions about how to improve it. Communications for Latin American NGO working to end extreme poverty by targeting slums. Conducted online database research and organization, grant research, proposal, and writing, secretarial duties, international phone calls, and translation. Initiated Chile's first recycling program in slums: responsible for education, design, and outreach within program. Resulted in realization of pilot project in one of Chile's biggest slums and a reduction of waste and creation of profit for inhabitants.
