Katie Bruce Email and Phone Number
I have a passion for sharing stories, working alongside communities, and leading diverse and inclusive teams to create social change.I was appointed by the Police Commissioner to the Independent Panel on Understanding Policing Delivery. Until recently, I was Acting Director, Strategy, Rights and Advice at the Office of the Children's Commissioner; responsible for the Commissioner's functions to hear from, advocate for, and uphold the rights of, all children in NZ. Along with recruiting and managing three diverse teams, including a child and youth engagement team, I contributed to the overall leadership and management of the organisation. Before working for Judge Andrew Becroft, I was Chief Executive of Volunteering New Zealand, running the national body for volunteering advocacy, research and capacity building. I have also been Executive Director of JustSpeak, leading a movement of young volunteers advocating on criminal justice. I have previously worked in academia and policy, including researching volunteering at the Third Sector Research Centre in the UK. I have a PhD in Sociology and Social Policy.
